The Largest and Most Homogeneous Vineyard in the Valencia Region

The Utiel-Requena area is located just 70 km from the Mediterranean Sea. With a total of 31,059 hectares under vine, it is the largest and most homogeneous vineyard area in the Valencia Region.

Β

Our vineyards lie at an average altitude of 720 metres above sea level, ranging from 650 to 905 metres. Due to this elevation, the climate has a strong continental influence, resulting in marked temperature differences between winter and summer, as well as between day and night.

Β

The altitude is largely responsible for key differences in our wines, contributing to greater freshness and vibrancy in whites and rosΓ©s, enhanced ageing potential in reds, and a higher concentration of phenolic compounds.

Β

Winters are cold and summers are short yet warm. The region enjoys around 2,700 hours of sunshine per year and low, irregular rainfall, with an annual average of approximately 400 mm. These conditions help reduce the incidence of vine diseases, allowing for more environmentally respectful vineyard practices and minimal intervention.

The soils are predominantly clay-sandy, rich in limestone and low in organic matter, phosphorus and magnesium. These characteristics have a direct impact on the aromatic profile of the wines, enhancing floral notes in whites, red fruit aromas in rosΓ©s, and balsamic nuances in reds.

Β

This designation also holds significant environmental value, as it includes protected natural areas such as the Biosphere Reserve and the Hoces del Cabriel Natural Park. The Cabriel River, which runs through the area, is considered the cleanest river in Europe.
