Bobal is our native grape variety and represents 19,531 hectares. This variety is perfectly adapted to the regionβs climatic conditions and produces deeply coloured wines with structure and character. Bobal grapes yield wines with intense colour, good body and complex flavours, as well as remarkable ageing potential.
Bobal wines are powerful for their rustic character and volume, delivering a wide range of sensations and unique nuances reminiscent of ripe fruit and wild berries. They display intense aromas of red fruits and, over time, evolve towards notes of ripe cherry, developing depth and elegance.
Bobal rosΓ© wines are fresh and vibrant, with an attractive colour and violet highlights. They are highly aromatic and well-balanced on the palate, combining freshness with structure.
We consider βold vineβ Bobal to refer to vineyards planted between 50 and 115 years ago. Of the 19,531 hectares currently planted with Bobal, 8,487 hectares correspond to old vines β representing 43.5% of the total.
To further explore our native variety, we are currently developing a research project called Valoriza Bobal.
