FUNCTIONS, FUNDING AND WHO WE ARE

AUTHENTICITY AND ORIGIN AS OUR FLAG

A Regulatory Council is an institution responsible for representing, defending, researching, protecting and promoting its protected products. It guarantees and recognises differentiated quality thanks to the environment where the grapes are grown and the wines are produced, as well as the human factor involved in the process.

Β

At the Regulatory Council, we are responsible for:

Β
β€œWe have spent 93 years controlling, training and promoting DO Utiel-Requena wines.”

FUNCTIONS

The main functions of a Regulatory Council are three:

Β
Β

The Certification Department is responsible for controlling the production and origin of the grapes, the winemaking process and the final product quality. It traces and authorises wineries, analyses wines in laboratories and carries out tastings with the DO’s own tasting panel. It also ensures compliance with regulations, particularly the Statutes and the Product Specification.

Β

The Communication Department promotes the Utiel-Requena brand and its wines at local, regional, national and international level through activities such as trade fairs, tastings, events and media campaigns.

Β

Both departments are also responsible for training activities aimed at winegrowers, oenologists, restaurateurs, students and the general public, through conferences, forums, courses and tastings.
