Valora Bobal is a research project that seeks to enhance the value of our main native red grape variety, Bobal. Its objective is the recovery and valorisation of Bobal through:
This project also aims to improve water-use efficiency in the context of drought and climate change.
Launched in 2018, over the next 11 years we will work in collaboration with the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) and the Valencian Institute for Agricultural Research (IVIA).

The Educational Project for the Integration of Wine Culture is one of the main initiatives promoted by the Regulatory Council, together with the wine sector and the local educational community, aimed at transmitting to students the essence of viticulture.
The objective is clear: to encourage students to see their land as a future project. To achieve this, we work with the five secondary schools in the region — Miguel Ballesteros, Alameda and Santa Ana in Requena; IES Nº1 in Utiel; and the School of Viticulture and Oenology of Requena. The project began in 2016 thanks to the support of various organisations.
We consider it essential to present the wine sector to students as a professional opportunity. Through visits and talks, students discover the different professional paths linked to viticulture and oenology: hospitality and sommelier training, communication and marketing, digital content creation, commercial management and international trade, business management, wine tourism and languages, event management, transport and logistics, printing and labelling, merchandising and packaging. The entrepreneurial opportunities are extensive and diverse.
This type of project is a true reflection of social commitment and the responsibility of individuals and organisations that believe in the well-being of their region and the improvement of its future.
To showcase the progress achieved over the past decade, we have produced a documentary featuring teachers and students who share their experiences and motivations within the project. If you would like a preview, you can watch the trailer, and if you prefer, the full video. It is also available in English.

We have also produced a video about another project carried out in schools, in this case about recycling old stone emblems that were once placed on the façades of wineries and have recently been renovated. This project is part of our commitment to environmental and social sustainability. The video is titled “Educating in Sustainability: The Art of Recycling with DO Utiel-Requena” and you can watch it here.
