Once again, data from the Organic Agriculture Committee of the Valencian Community (CAECV) on organic vineyards in our autonomous region highlights the strong commitment and dedication of the nine municipalities covered by the Utiel-Requena Designation of Origin: Camporrobles, Caudete de las Fuentes, Fuenterrobles, Requena, Siete Aguas, Sinarcas, Utiel, Venta del Moro and Villargordo del Cabriel.
The latest national data published for 2024 shows that the Valencian Community ranks third among Spainβs autonomous regions in terms of total organic vineyard area, behind Castilla-La Mancha and Catalonia, accounting for 12% of all organic vineyards in Spain.
In addition, the CAECV released data for the Valencian Community revealing that, out of 19,129 hectares of organic vineyards, 15,130 hectares are located within our geographical area. These hectares represent 79% of the organic vineyard area in the Valencian Community and 9% of the national total.
There has been an increase of 530 hectares compared to the previous year. As for wineries, the figures remain stable: 53 of our wineries hold CAECV certification to produce and/or bottle organic wines.
Once again, the data confirms that Utiel-Requena is the cradle of organic viticulture, maintaining its position as the number one ranked comarca in the Valencian Community.
These figures once again provide tangible proof of the commitment of DO Utiel-Requena winegrowers and wineries to environmental, economic and social sustainability.
