URbanitas del vino: the Utiel-Requena DO offers and allows you to savor Valencia neighborhood by neighborhood

The new edition of URbanitas del Vino has been a resounding success during its first weekend, bringing the wines of the Utiel-Requena Designation of Origin closer to the Valencian public through Valencian restaurants and bars, offering a variety of gastronomic experiences and a lively afternoon gathering despite the rain.

The Casa Pescadores restaurant was chosen as the venue for the URbanitas del Vino launch last Thursday. At the event, where the Utiel-Requena Designation of Origin unveiled the main features of this year’s edition, the event brought together Valencian media and content creators focused on gastronomy and lifestyle, and served to present a new, more ambitious edition of the project.

During the event, the “extended version” of this year’s edition was presented, boasting increased participation with 23 venues, 30 wineries, and 55 wines distributed across seven neighborhoods of the city. This solidifies URbanitas del Vino as one of the most important promotional initiatives for the Designation of Origin in the city.

Furthermore, the focus was placed on the project’s objective: to bring DO Utiel-Requena wines closer to urban consumers through accessible and dynamic offerings in partnership with Valencia’s hospitality sector, showcasing the diversity of styles and varieties of wines from the Designation of Origin to be enjoyed at different times.

The presentation concluded with a tasting of the five selected wines in a relaxed setting overlooking the sea, demonstrating the essence of the project, which attracts more venues and participants each year, eager to be part of the experience.

URbanitas del Vino Kicks Off to a Warm Reception

URbanitas del Vino launched its initiative in the city of Valencia with its first events in the Cabanyal and Malvarrosa neighborhoods, where participating establishments implemented the activities planned for this edition.

These neighborhood establishments offered wine by the glass and paired menus designed specifically for the occasion, bringing the various wines of the Utiel-Requena Designation of Origin (DO) closer to the public in a familiar and everyday setting. The response from attendees reflected the interest in these types of initiatives linked to the region and local hospitality.

The highlight of the week was the afternoon gathering held on May 9th, which brought together more than 250 people for an event featuring music, gastronomy, and the presence of all 55 wines from the Utiel-Requena DO. Despite the rain, the event maintained high attendance and solidified this format as a hallmark of the project.

During this gathering, a toast was also raised to celebrate DO Wine Day, an initiative of the Spanish Conference of Wine Regulatory Councils (CECRV), adding a symbolic element to the event and reinforcing the role of Designations of Origin as a link between territory, origin, and wine tourism.

The extended version of URbanitas del vino will continue its tour of different neighborhoods and venues until June 21. The complete updated program, venues, and menus can be found on the website in both Spanish and English.
